Let’s make this post short and sweet, just like a good bio. Two Heads Media writes copy for some amazing clients. What do we do in order to make sure that we DON’T MISS in our attempt to create accurate, interesting, and readable bios that satisfy both our clients and their audiences alike? Aside from the standard professional background, the attention to better-than-perfect grammar, the purpose and intent of one’s work, we like to focus on these areas:
1) Short and sweet – People are going to be curious about you if they want to do business with you, but not so curious that they’ll read a lengthy essay on your accomplishments. Keep a bio to 3 short paragraphs, and up to 250-300 words. You’ll increase your chances of having it be read.
2) Speak to your audience – This is purely marketing 101. Create a bio that not only represents you accurately, but uses the words, narrative, and tone that attracts YOUR audience, the ones you’re wanting to impress, persuade, and otherwise have potential clients that are interested in you just being you.
3) Personally interesting – We all want to garner respect for our work and profession. A well-written, meticulously-constructed, short bio can do wonders for your overall impression. Most people also want to be remembered (among the multiple other folks out there wanting to be seen and heard above the rest.) Adding a few interesting tidbits, like being a fan of terrible 80s movies or enjoying sky-diving on most weekends will connect you far better and make you stand out above the crowd.
Two Heads Media enjoys writing affordable bios with a personal touch. Need to spruce up your professional profile with some copy that actually suits you? Get in touch with us and we’ll help you achieve the narrative and tone you need for success.
